I'm very fortunate to be able to hear the sound regularly, last Saturday afternoon in fact when one of the Merlin Spitfires from the BBMF flew over at around 1500 ft. I had been treated to an even more impressive sight and sound earlier that day when the BBMF Lancaster circled around to the NE to be joined by a late mark Spitfire (in SEAC colours I think but not too sure) before setting off for a display. One advantage of living relatively close to Barkston Heath I guess! Who said there's no future in nostalgia!?:O
