Martin Baker have just announced that the 7,000th life has been saved by its ejection seats.

Well done chaps, keep up the good work.

I am still collecting stories for a book should anyone care to get in touch.

Visit www.ejectorseats.co.uk to see what I need.

I think we can chalk that one up to the RN. It was the SHAR ejection off the south west caost last week that was number 7,000.

To appease WE Branch Fanatic, Don't worry, it will not be long before the SHAR stops adding to this total.

MANY THANKS Martin Baker for all your efforts past and future

And a rapid return to duty for the pilot.

Beers all round

From the official press release:

I]"Martin-Baker is very pleased to announce that an historical milestone was reached on Wednesday 11 June 2003 when the Company received news of the safe escape of Lieutenant Commander Robert Schwab RN from a Sea Harrier FA2 off the coast of Devon, England, using one of the Company’s ejection seats. Lt. Cmdr. Schawb was conducting an air test at 28,000 feet when the aircraft became uncontrollable and entered a spin. As the aircraft descended, still spinning, through 10,000 feet Lt. Cmdr. Schwab ejected using his Martin-Baker Mk.10H ejection seat and was reportedly recovered from the sea uninjured. This is Lt. Cmdr. Schwab’s second ejection, the first being in 1984 when he escaped from a Hawk trainer that was sliding along the ground after the collapse of its landing gear. "[/I]

Is there an upper limit to the number of jets you are allowed to trash in a career?! ;)

One Hawk and one SHar seems modest.....

Ring BAE and ask Whizzer about upper limits........!

3 ejections is the limit, after that you have to go and work for bwos to keep crashing. Glad to hear schwaby is alive and well!

Colonel,

An AVMED specialist once told me that the arbirtrary '3-ride limit' is no longer the case. The reduced peak g of modern seats means you don't get snapped in half like you used to with the 'gun only' seats. As long as you keep passing the medicals-you're good to go.

I hope your post wasn't an attempt at a slur on Wizzer's skill.

The T8's are still fitted with the old style seats. I was refering to the delivery flight of a new FA2 to yeovilton from bwos that crashed a while ago...
