I would like to know if some body Knows why we have different eyesight requirements in spain where the limit is -3 and in england where is -5 the diopter limit. I canīnt understand why is diferent because UK is a JAA menber as Spain.

The second question is about the NPA to the JAR FCL 3 which should change the diopter limit to - 5 in the initial check (I refer to the JAA members except UK) Do you know when that NPA will go on in the rest of JAA member states??

and one more question If I pass the JAA class I in England can I fly in spain?? (Iīm not sure of this because of the different initial check requiremets)

I have tryed to send e-mails to the JAA but no answer yet

I have 3.5 shortsightness so I canīt be pilot I spain but I could In UK

Thanks to all of you and excuse my poor english!!:ok:

The limits for the initial issue of a class one medical are stricter than the limits for renewals.

This where the -3 and -5 come from. I think the NPA talks about
-5 and -8 ??

Initial -3

Renewal -5

Go and have an initial class one medical. If your condition is stable, a flexible approach has been known in the UK pre JAR.
