Anyone have any knowledge or experience of Rand Flight Academy in Johannesburg? I'd particularly like to hear the experiences of any former students.

Rand Flight Academy used to trade as Tas flight school before and have been around awhile.
I did my PPL and com there a few years ago and I was quite happy with the level of instruction.
They operate a few 172 's and Cherokee 200 retracts and have access to leased twins.
They operate from Rand and use Vereeniging for circuits to save costs.
There is also a Boarding establishment they utilise at Rand which is old but comfortable with ok food.

Thanks KK.
Were they running their own COM ground school when you were there or was it all self-study?

A combination of both a school and self study. Both old Tas and his son are current ATP airline pilots who run the school as a second income.
