Here's a puzzler:

Background:
Our network crashed about 3 weeks ago, redone from scratch. (Potential problem with this)
Currently working on Office 2000 Professional.

Problems:
1. Working on a document and it's saved... 2 min later, make a change, try to save... and it says READ ONLY ... (If you switch PC off... it works okay after 2 min)

2. Doc takes 5 min to open... then it works okay.

Problem occurs only in Word, not Excel...

Any ideas?

Could be more help if we knew a bit more about the structure of the LAN, the version of the OS involved and whether the problem occurs both when on the LAN and when the Workstation is functioning stand-alone.

Difficult to know if it is a LAN problem. That it takes 5 mins to load is a puzzle.

Check your protocols and IP addresses after the LAN rebuild. Are the workstations all on the same hymn sheet? Is the file you are trying to load stored on the LAN workstation holding all the workgroup data or on the PC that is having the problem?
