As I am about to start my 340 transition course I was wondering if there are any experienced drivers out there who could tell me about the major changes since its conception, and yes; I'm talking about the 4-engine one, not the Swedish Swirl. Thanks.

How do you mean changes? There are currently 3 variances, the -200, -300 and the new -600. The -600 has major differences and improvements over the 'classic', especially in the areas of fuel and landing gear.

Jetboy,. .. .It's little more complex than such. Suggest a visit to the Airbus website. Any airliner goes through different phases of development after initial launch. The A340 comes in standard as well as several IGW versions. The "Enhanced" version the SQ uses also have higher trhust settings. Have been led to belive that the "Improved" version that SAA recently signed for will have yet more power and thus higher weights.. .Again, try to visit the Airbus website for full details.. . . . [ 21 March 2002, 09:49: Message edited by: Flip Flop Flyer ]

Thanks guys.. .I should have been more specific in my initial posting, it's the 340-300 I'm interested in and as Flip Flop says, there probably have been some improvements/upgrades since it first started flying more than a decade ago. Is the "Enhanced" version the first with major changes or have there been any worth knowing about before that ?. .TTail
