Hi !

I was just wondering about tiltrototors like the Bell BA609..

What happens if they get an engine failure while they are in the hover ?.. Does it have the tendencies like a traditionel helicopter where you can autorotate and land reasonable safely.. or will it enter a totally uncontrolled deadspin..

And how about when they fly with the rotors tilted fully forward ?..
Are there then time to tilting the rotors upwards or do the pilots have to make a forced landing with the rotors tilted forward ?.. (That wouldn't be fun)

Looking forward for some answers..:D
An sorry about if the grammer isn't the best..:\

Like the V-22 the drive system is cross-connected so if one engine fails the aircraft is supposedly capable of flight and possibly a hover at lighter weights. Regarding the Prop Rotor ® being in the aircraft mode during a forced landing the blades are constructed so that they shred on impact to minimize flying debris. Hopefully they don’t shred in flight under high loads.
