28 Squadron celebrated its 60 birthday in stile with a parade, formation flypast and extravagant party on Friday 30 May 2003 at Waterkloof AFB. Past and present members of the squadron partied till the small hours of the night in celebration! This function also celebrated the 40 years of service of the C130 Hercules in the SAAF. The newly revamped C130 with EFIS, and recently upgraded was also on display. Lockheed Martin reportedly sponsored the squadron to the tune of 50 000 US$. Can you imagine the bash!! Yours truly will need the day to recover!! Congratulations to all concerned BUT the Ex – Transall crews still rule!
