Does anyone know if there are any countries that allow pilots to fly while or after taking amiodorone? I have been on it for three years and would like to fly again. I am told that there are a couple of European countries that allow pilots to fly as F/O with this drug...oops, medication.

I guess the question really is what the amiodarone is used for.

In a young person, I suspect it would be most likely to be used because of a supraventricular tachycardia secondary to an aberrant conduction pathway. If that's the case, the condition could be cured by ablation and the person could come off the drug, in which case I presume a Class 1 medical could be granted.

However, I think it would be unlikely that a licencing authority would allow a pilot to fly commercially while on amiodarone to prevent a cardiac rhythm disturbance. Frankly, I wouldn't like my pilot to be on amiodarone! Not one little bit.
