Can anyone please tell me what the score is with leaving the RAF at your 38/16 point and transferring to the Australian Army(Rotary) ? Do you still get your gratuity and pension and what are the terms of service with the Aussies?

Just curious, fancy a bit of sunshine...............maybe.

Don't know about your UK pension etc.
However, quite a few people have made the trek down here previously and slotted into the Army Aviation Corps successfully.
You'd probably join the SSO (Specialist Service Officer) scheme on say a 5 year contract, easily renewable at the end of that time.
Pay for an experienced Capt. pilot is probably about 90 grand Aust at the moment (if you're on the highest increment of flying pay).
The usual benefits apply, eg free medical, dental, subsidised housing, free removals between localities, free camping gear for bush trips!...
They call it lateral recruiting when a qualified individual comes from an overseas service; not sure of the contact details to get the ball rolling, but maybe search for 'Australian Defence Force Recruiting' as a start point.

EnnArr,

To slightly amend what Mr ArmOut has said, all applicants (and there are may of them) are taken on a case-by-case basis as to what career stream they go into. The guy you need to speak to is actually heading over your way right now to speak to some more prospective aviators about coming down........under.

Ref your gratuities & pension, he'll be able to answer your questions accurately, and will let you know the equivalent schemes here.

pls email me at [email protected] (please wait for 24 hours before sending, as I've got to set up the account...)

:ok:

Any potential applicant considering joining Australian Army Aviation (AAAvn) should contact me in the first instance. As a capability we are interested in RW, military trained pilots, aero-engineers and technicians. Pilots require to be NVG qualified and preferably QHIs. Engineers and technicians are assessed on an individual basis, but need sound and recognised qualifications.

We can only process individuals that are under the age of 45 on their arrival in Australia. Moreover, we are only interested in individuals actively considering termination of their current employ as we do not wish to be accused of poaching.

Potential applicants should e-mail me with their current CV highlighting their particular areas of expertise mentioned above, and outline their motivation to move, family circumstances and what they believe they can add to our capability. I am also interested in the expectations applicants have of us and living in Australia.

The competition is fierce, and we reject far more than we accept.

I look forward to hearing from you.
