....are there in the UK? Does anyone know? Having just qualified, I'm idly curious; been told there are only 5 or 6 of us, but I'm sure it's got to be more than that. Tried the CAA's website for stats, but that's one they don't have. Anyone any idea?

Heather Sugden at Sandtoft is an CAA examiner.

I knew about those two. Also Pat Agnew at Welshpool, Candia Essex at Gloucester, Vicky Jenkins whio was at WBA till recently, and someone at Blackpool whose name I've forgotten. Anyone know of any more?

There was a Ruth Downey at Wycombe Air Park.
Lorraine Rallison at Sloane Helicopters and there was another one there whose name I can't remember.

I chatted to a female RW instructor at Cabair, Cranfield in early April this year.
Her name was Kath Jefferies.

My trial lesson back in 88 was with a gel, don't recall her name but she worked at Sloane.

Who cares? And what difference does it make?
Regardless of sex there was one test that eliminated a few prospective pilots in a company I used to work for that did a lot of remote work.
Stand the 200 litre drum of Jet A1 up on its end. Some could and the others well........

Is it just me or can anyone actually see the link between Whirly's curiousity as to other female instructors in the uk and Mr Bicker's point that the ability to upend a 45gal drum of fuel constitutes a test of suitablility for pilots?:confused:
And to answer the following point... the question was how many female FI are there in the UK? They might all be built like rugby players and able to throw fuel drums like toys... their ability or suitability wasn't the question.
The route they took to get where they are was also not the question... whether it was building hours in a nice number in the Florida sun or scraping mossies from the screen in Africa.

How can you employ someone on single-pilot ops in isolated areas, who does not have the strength to manhandle refuelling equipment on their own?
And as most instructors build hours by doing this type of work, I think its a relevant point.
