Has anybody collected comparative safety statistics for twin jets and twin helicopters operating Public Transport in recent times?

It's my belief that our record in this narrow category has improved recently with modern helicopter types but I don't have the stats to back this up. Perhaps Nick Lappos or somebody else can lay his hands on this data?

The accident rate for Oil Operations is well documented, I show them below. I dont think there are enough helo airliners or hours to have meaningful data - OTOH, the Helo airlines that I know have had no accidents in decades.

The helo does quite well, (with ppruners at the stick,of course!). Bear in mind that starched-wing airliners always land on the same runway, that special one they have people build them at every airport around the world. This standardization of facilities and procedures helps drive the accident rate down tremendously. Imagine if airliners had to fly to rigs, and work their way around rig cranes and power turbine exhausts!

helo accident rate 0.67 per 100,000 departures, vice 0.41 for US scheduled airlines

helo accident rate 1.87 per 100,000 hours, vice 0.2 for scheduled airlines
