Air Scandic are doing well....some interesting possibilities for the near future too being looked at. They have a wise management....long may the success continue.

Nice Uniforms

Hi,

Does anyone know when Air Scandic are going to retire their A300's?

Why should they retire the A300?
Cheap lease rates and they do a good job !!

Yeh, I remember coming back from Tenerife on a Air Scandic A300, smooth ride all the way.

Does anybody think Air Scandic will ever ditch their current livery? Is it just me who thinks it looks as though it was designed by a child fiddling about with an early version of Microsoft Publisher? It looks so pathetic, as does their website!

A little dickie bird told me that the A300,s were due for retirement last year because they are a 3 crew cockpit and there are no 3 crew cockpit simulators around any more but they were given a years extension by the CAA?? I am not in the industry so I might be talking b******s but that is what I was told by somebody in the industry..............??

Yip. That little dickie bird did talk a bit of BS or did not have his facts together.

Air Scandic has what is called a A300B4-200 FFCC. FFCC stands for Forward Facing Crew Cockpit. This particular version does not have a flight engineer ie carries only 2 pilots.

You where right though that CAA had given hard time regarding the certification of the Jakarta Sim (Yes there is a sim for this model). Apparently there has been some question about the serviceability of the machine and Garuda does not want to pay for the upgrades and such.

Training has now been arranged with alternative (CAA approved) arrangements. If these isues can be settled the bigbus wil continue to soldier on, unless economical considerations become an issue. There has been talk about other types. Time will tell.

Cheers

Just flown with Air Scandic.... well sort of. Went to Cyprus with the new start up FlyJet out of LGW. Saw their nice 757 parked from the terminal, but apparently they're not operational yet. So we boarded the bus to be taken to an awaiting Air Scandic aircraft. This turned out to be a Finnair 757 leased by Air Scandic with company Cabin Crew and Finnair Pilots. Seems a strange round the houses sort of thing, but all very friendly and proffessional. Excellent landing in Larnaka, but I thought the earphones for the inflight entertainment were a tad expensive at £3.00. Came back with MyTravel who were doing the FlyJet thing in reverse and they charged £1.50. Firmer landing at LGW, but got cheaper headset. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
