There was a 32 squadron BAe146 in at Scampton today, flying in the big man himself to see the Red Arrows! The aircraft in question is ZE700… Does anyone know what the two fairly big pods are near the tail? They don’t look like regular IR ‘Blinkers’? Just wondered if anyone had any ideas? Type ZE700 on google, and you'll see exactly what I mean!

You can PM me if you dont want to post the info on here!

Thanks guys

JATO Bottles

Actually not far off, very similar except that they have the ability to rotate through 180 deg so that they are dual pupose. They give a good Short Take Off capability and, if rotated forward, excellent Short landing performance. The aircrew manual states that the latter is only to be used if handling pilot has the initials HRH C!

Actually they`re trafficators, for turning left/right, and can also be used as hazard " flashers" when parked off the end / side of runways. Syc..;)

Can't believe how wrong you guys are.
Similiar theme to reversible JATO bottles.
I have it good authority that they are drag chute housings, again only for use when HRH C is flying.......

Or is where the Loadie keeps the Hobnobs?

Corgi Carriers. The glass bits are windows as the dogs get airsick if the can't see out.

They are baggage pods: See Flight Magazine 10 March 2001

BAe have been awarded a multi million pound contract to fit 32squadrons 146 aircraft with a Dutyfree Imprest Rate Carrying Mechanism or DIRCM. After several accident investigations pointed the finger at the aircrews over heavy wallets and flight bags causing the C of G to move too far forward. The Pods also act as a drinks chiller and a further mod will see them fitted with Purple Smoke despensors to designate airspace.

What will the Boffins think of next! You would have thought they could have just sat Gordon Brown further back in the Jet!:8

Chaps, its obvious. Two sets of golf clubs faired in to reduce drag.

It's obvious, they're arrester wire lugs for down wind landings on Scottish Island airfields
Salad Dodger: Where abouts on Tracy Island do you live? I thought I might pop round for a chat.

Big oil reservoirs for the engines methinks.
