Would anyone care to guess what was special about Sept. 3rd to September 13th 1752?

Absolutely nothing happened, and that is not a guess. :)

Caused riots didn't it?

The London mob was as stupid and vicious then as it remains today.

They thought they were being robbed of ten days pay and ten days of their lives, which I suppose they were.

Didn't it occur to anyone to explain that they would get an extra ten days tagged onto the end to make up for it? And some lucky people would get an extr birthday out of it - true, those who had birthdays in that period would miss one out but you win a few and you lose a few...

Strange how Euro Scepticism was alive and well then - Britain was just about the last country to adopt the Gregorian calendar (even though it was accurate), presumably as the polititians of the time didn't trust the horrible continental types that produced it.

I think a Calendar of ten months with 36 days each, with five days unrecorded and uncounted and made a universal holiday makes more sense.

I remember nobody slept for 10 nights?

I don't believe they were upset about losing 10 days of their "lifes" but at having to pay the normal monthly rents for a month that was 10 days short!
