Hello 8GG

For CPL and ATPL you have to write separate exams, unlike in Europe, 8 for the CPL and 7 for ATPL. For the IR you have to do certain exams of the CPL syllabus, not sure which ones, I suggest you have a look on www.caa.co.za for details.

Study notes are published by a few different publishers, ones I know of are Aeronav, Avex, FTC, 43 Air School and Central Flying Academy. These all include typical exam questions. Separate exam question are also in circulation amongst most students, if you ask around at any of the schools, you are guaranteed to find what you want.

FTC's questions have a reputation for being closest to the real thing, and 43 Air School also have a large number of 'real' questions in their database. Not sure about the other ones. As for the study notes, I haven't found a single set that gives you everything you need to know. I did my exams a few years ago, used Aeronav for CPL, Avex for ATPL, and FTC questions for both!

Good luck :ok:
