Just wondering whats involved for a Australian or South Africian LAME to get a FAA ticket? For turboprop less than 12500lbs. Whats the time and cost involved, and if anywhere can help with the conversion? There is no intention to work in the states, just maintain some "N" aircraft. Thank you. TeaCup

The A&P is not type/weight specific. If you can prove 30 months work experience and have n A&P engineer to give you a letter of certification then the hardest part of gaining an A&P is nearly over. The exam is a fairly straight forward memory test and shouldn't pose a problem for an already license engineer. You would have to go to the USA to complete the ground school which costs about $1000. It should take about 10 days....hope this is what you were looking for. This link from the FAA has more info FAA Mechanic (http://www2.faa.gov/avr/afs/infoformechanics/)
