Virgin celebrates 10m milestone
April 30, 2003

VIRGIN Blue is preparing to take flight with its 10 millionth passenger.

The company, which started operations in Australia two and a half years ago, expects to reach the milestone this morning.

Chief executive Brett Godfrey said the 10 millionth guest was likely to board a flight from Brisbane to Mackay at around 8.30am (AEST).

"Since the vast majority of start-up airlines don't make it to one million passengers, this is an important milestone for us," he said.

"Virgin Blue has gone from strength to strength by focussing on the needs of our guests, whether they are travelling for business or pleasure."

Mr Godfrey said it took Virgin Blue nearly two years to celebrate five million passengers, but only 10 months for the second five million.

He said that was due to the introduction of new aircraft, more destinations and more flights on existing routes.

Yep. Bloke was Mackay bound after stepping off a Bangkok flight. Had a Virgin (sic) girlie pop champers in his face and shower him with gifts.
