Its taken me seven days to pluck up the courage to ask this question but its been at the forfront of my brain for so long that I just have to ask this it. I read a Jane's book about the Mig-29 and I have to ask. Is it true about the big clock thing :D and if so is it true that the Germans "upgraded" to a more reliable Swiss windup model :)

Simple - the Americans spent millions of dollars developing a fantastic, high-tech space pen that could write faultlessly in zero gravity, zero pressure etc.

The Russkies spent tuppence and used a pencil.

Now, who wins the 'writing in space' award? Technology isn't everything - not always, anyway...
