Hey,
Just a sight we "may" (or ma-not) see if Britannia opt for an A330 anytime in the future....I like it better on the Boeing's myself....

good news is ab type rating, bad news is to go through the ground school again. for boeing this could mean european operators are becoming patriotic.

middlepath : Aren't American Operators patriotic to Boeing?

Hi,

Looks Great :ok:, I hope they go for the Boeing 767-400 as they already have the 767- 200ER, 300ER.

american operators are no longer patriotic to their domestic products when it comes to money, eg, jet blue.NW, United. ect. However, business practice in future may change due to diffrence of opinion during Gulf War II. The good news is buying AB may boost EU economy but bad part is AB has history of expensive and slow delivery of spare parts.

Not the Boeing / Airbus bit again!

Flown Boeing and like them a lot, especially the 767-300! Now fly the A320/1 and A330, I like them as well! Both manufacturers aeroplanes go a long way in the dark and I get paid to fly them so they are both about the same in my book!

A330 looks good in Britannia’s colours.

Question from non-pilot cabin crew person.

Are the engines in reverse thrust in thge image? If they are, is it some sort of airbus thing to use reverse with the nose off the ground or does this happen all the time and I just haven't noticed?

thanks for any guidance and apologies if I've missed the obvious.

T-S, Yep those are the engines in reverse. Depending on company operating procedures, reversers are normally selected on main wheel touchdown, which is often a few seconds before the nosewheel lands. Its a bit of a balncing act, as reversers are at their most effective at higher speeds, but in airbus' their deployment also signals the end of a chance of any decision to go around.

Fleet change!! Britannia!

The long awaited fleet announcement last year when it was RIPE and OPPORTUNE to place aircraft orders was eventually "there is no change".

Britannia and airbusses "NOT IN MY LIFTIME METHINKS"

New Generation B737 900"£$%^&* Xs possibly but I doubt it.

B767-400 NO CHANCE.

B757-300 YEP sounds good.
B767-300 YEP sounds good.

B757-200 CHEAPY CHEAP leasing deals so :ok:

A330 WHY??

Hi,

I think the 757-300 would be a really good idea for BY :ok:.

Hello,
I realise not 'all' American operators are pro-Boeing as such, but the majority are...the bulk of many of their fleets are Boeing. I am not saying that is a bad thing, as far as I am concerned, both get me from A-B safely, quickly, and comfortably. It is a good thing that European airlines are using Airbus because the money is going back into europe.

Anyway, it would be nice for Britannia to operate some buses as well as the Boeings...I don't think they will go for the 764 if any aircraft..

BAe 146 100,

sorry but WHY???

B757 300 is a disaster area.:(

Shorthaul fleet choice will probably be B737 800 to provide commonality across TUI airlines and economies of scale, longhaul will probably be A330 as it offers significant performance improvements over 767.

In any case, the best financial deal will win the day.

Hi,

Frosty Hoar, if they got the 737-800 they wouldn't be able to carry as many passengers?. Why is the 757-300 a disaster area?

Hi,
BY Nordic already have 737-800s. Britannia have had Airbus aircraft before as they leased A320s from TransAer from 1998-2000.

Thanks

B737-800 was ideal choice in terms of size and seat cost pm 2 years ago, that is why we started buying them, indeed the TUI fleet now consists entirely of 737ng apart from by 757s on the narrow body side.

757-300 has inferior performance to 200, difficult to turnaround quickly with single door boarding etc etc, Condor are contemplating scrapping theirs if boeing wont take them back and there is one parked here permanently on the ramp as a gate guard.

757 300 could only be used to replace 767 200 for by and a310 for hapag lloyd, (remember TUI airlines are being aligned wherever possible), and I just cant see TUI buying an a-c that they wont be able to sell on and that cannot operate long haul if required.

By the way looks llike a right dog as well...they should have made a shorter 75 instead.

Hi,

So you think that the A330 would be not suitable for BY?

Um no, as stated in my first post, A330 is a likely choice unless B7x7 is chosen instead.

Why not take the 717, no airlines giving it much of a chance.

Frosty,
Disaster area?
Yes t/off performance is limited compared to -200 perf, but still does a good job. As for condor, last I heard they were ditching all the -200's, not 3's.

Well as BAe-146-100 said I don't recall being him. It makes me ask the question though - have you actually been searching though our post to see any resemblance? You only have to see our profiles to see how different we are.

Thanks
