View Full Version : Stansted Express (WAGN) shoddy service

On a slight tangent, from an earlier post:

FR compare very well to Wagn railway

This is uncomfortably close to the truth.........WAGN (nickname "We're All Going Nowhere") own the Stansted Express (sic).

I have the misfortune to travel on this miserable service every day. At least once a week on average there is a plague of locusts or some other crisis that means services are disrupted long enough that hundreds of people miss their flights (last Wednesday, my train 2.5 hours late in to STN at peak evening time, for example).

I have long mused as to whether Stansted Express are in the pay of FR for a cut on reselling tickets to those that miss their flights :)

I use WAGN a couple of times a month, although not the Stansted Express. I can't say that I've ever had any real problems with the Hertford East-Liverpool Street or Hertford North-Moorgate/Kings X services. Is it just the S.EX that your having problems with (sorry couldn't miss out on the pun :O ) or is it other WAGN services?

No, it's just the S.EX i'm having trouble with ;);)

Maybe WAGN need the corporate equivalent of Viagra........:D

It appears that a nice alternative to the Stansted Express now exists courtesy of National Express (http://www.gobycoach.com). Airbus service A9 now operates every 30 minutes (24/7) between Stansted Airport and Stratford - for connection to the Central Line, Jubilee Line, Docklands Light Railway and National Rail services.

Being that the journey time is scheduled at (45-60 minutes depending on the time of day), it runs every thirty minutes (24/7), Stratford is just one station away from Liverpool Street, and fares at GBP6.00 one way and GBP12.00 roundtrip; it seems that this will be a good option for many.

FYI: The last Stansted Express service is at midnight, journey time is approx 42-45 minutes, fares are around GBP12 one way, and the service is replaced by coaches on sundays.

Beckham!

Who ever lets you out of the airport for those two trips a month!?

Shouldn't you be working through those days to clear the backlog of delays from your airline rather than sorting out the delays on WAGN!? :ok:

I use WAGN and STN express daily (lucky me). The service is awful as Departures Beckham and Dave T-S rightly say.

However, just to clear up a point, Sunday services are now resumed as normal. Oh joy.

The coach was often quicker anyway!

So does this mean that the major engineering works are now finished or is this simply a break to allow leaves to settle on the line before work restarts? Should we expect similar closures again soon?

FJW: Maybe Mr Zweismann should consider taking the bus? It'll save him getting stranded at Mountfitchet.
