On a more lighthearted note:

Recently heard that there may be US led trials for operating the Herc J from carriers! No joke, it was done with earlier versions and there is an ongoing requirement for a supply aircraft with sufficient payload/range.

I wonder if we would ever consider this option for our new French made ships when we get them! Would we F*(K...

If you want to see proof it can be done without arrestor gear, there is a video clip and a great blurb of the USN trials onto the USS Forrestal in the 60's.

It could probably be done, but only if QinetiQ were kept well away from the trials!!

Th US launched U2A from carriers as a trial in the late 50's/early 60's.

Been there, seen it, done it..I don't know what the fuss is about. It just takes a little practice.
