I am currently a 3rd year medical student and have decided that I want to fly as career, however I would also like to finish my degree as I am having a good time. I have also read that a degree would help me get onto a sponsorship scheme. Does anyone know how many more years BA intends to run their sponsorship scheme?

Hi Colsburg.

When I attended the Aptitude tests on monday 5th feb, the lovely lady stated that they are in great need for all 20 of us attending to get through to the final board because they are quite desparate for pilots at the moment. Make your own conclusions from that, but there is going to be a huge BA pilot shortage in a few years because of retirements. It looks like maybe they will keep the scheme going for some time yet, but don't quote me please!

All the best and I hope you realise your dreams!

They won't stop for the moment, as there are so many retiring from the Hamble bulge, and the last thing wanted is another bulge later, so recruitment is continuous.
