A friend of mine is about to go for his initial class 1, but he is concerned about his weight as he is 16 stone. Being just over 6 feet tall, it doesn't really show on him, but could he fail for not having his weight in proportion to his height?

Just as well that it is only the friends of PPRuNers that have these health concerns!
I have not been able to confirm this but it was stated on here a few weeks ago that a Body Mass Index of greater than 35 would be a problem.
To calculate your (friends) BMI apply the following formula:
BMI = weight (kg) / (height (m) *height (m))
So if we take 104/3.35 we get a BMI of 31 which means too fat but should be OK for the medical.

Thanks FD.
He is a ppruneer, but was too shy too ask ;)
