This is the first time I have posted, so hello all.

I recently applied to the CX cadet programme, however I was unsuccessful. I am now considering my options.

I thought that it would be a good idea for me to go and get some hours in, perhaps do my PPL, with the view to reapplying in 6 months hoping that this would give CX a better indication of my enthusiasm for the career. (which I dont think really came across in my interview).

I would like to ask those of you who have experience with this what kind of approach I should take? Where they might recomend I go to do a PPL (I live in HK, but I am open to suggestions almost anywhere!) and whether I should take things further before reapplying - ie go all out and get fATPL.

Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks - 36533

do you know what you were not successful with or what stage you did not make through? nowadays not easy to go to the US anymore for PPL, need student visa for that.

another sad news is that the cadet program seems to be running on limbo due to SARS virus. rumor is that they might be only able to hold one or two courses this year.

lots of ppl apply without experience and get in. really got to look to yourself as to what you are really lacking..

don't give up!

Just send them a letter and wait!

I failed my 2nd stage cadet interview march last year, and I re-applied for the cadet pilot interview again Dec last year with my Australian CPL, but the sad thing is: I received their "rejection letter" right after they got my application form in Feb this year.

I want to tell you, PPL is nothing to do to show your "enthusiasm” to become a CX pilot. They are looking for candidates with great potential to become an airline pilot instead of having licences. Again, they are looking for people who are able to become a CX captain in the future.

Hope we are both not in their blacklist, btw, any1 here know when is the earliest time for us to re-apply cadet interview?

If you're a cadet, you won't be blacklisted. That's the good news.

The bad news is that there will be no more cadet courses for the rest of the year. CP18 started in March, and that will be the last course, as I understand it.

So if you don't hear back from CX for a while, a lot of people are in the same shoes as you are...

Flying Bagel:

Do you have any information about the physical and vision standard in CP?

I fail the plates test but I pass the Lantern test. DO they accept a candidate with this condition? If not, what other path should I take to become an airline pilot?

Million thanks.
