View Full Version : British Troops/Aircrew in the Gulf
As sensitive a subject as this may be, and no offence is ment to any other nationality, whilst I know that everyone out 'There is doing a great job, I am now utterly convinced after seeing the conduct of operations and the way in which locals/civilians have been treated, I am left in no doubt at all, that the British armed forces are with out doubt the most Professional soldiers and airmen that exist.
Good on you guys, you are the best, and I for one am absolutely proud of you. All you grunts out there did not have the chance to prove your selves last time(I was there for the air war), but this time you have excelled. I wish you good luck and continued success in what is the finest display of British ground/air manouvers in as long as I myself can recall. Keep it up!

As I said no offence meant to any other nation, but now you come to mention it, somebody said on the news 4 weeks ago that OZ were sending 4000 military personnel. Now I know that they are there, but where are they? I did here a bit about invovement in mine clearance(surfing on Bondai is the best ever qualification for this LOL!) but seriously they are one of the few 'coilition forces involved. Are there troops from any other nations apart from US, UK OZ actually in theatre(apart from Kurds) does anyone know? The US has 300000 heroes the UK has 40000 heroes and Oz 4000 heroes but you're right they still deserve a bloody good mention(Does any one know if they are being mentioned back home in Oz?)

it's BONDI.
Australia has a squadron of FA18, a couple of P3, some mine clearance divers and a few Frigates.
Also a unknown number of SAS and a company of commandos?
Plus i have seen there are some aussies operating in US and UK units on exchange.
A good effort considering the number in our armed forces.

Australia also has 2 x C130H and 1 x C130J, and 3 x Chinook (I think, might be 2).
Also sending (or sent) some photo interpreters in the last week or so.

Tigs - I think all coalition forces have come across very well. Despite the slagging US forces often get, from what I've seen they are conducting themselves with the much the same modesty and professionalism I have witnessed before. The comments by the US Marines [?] in Baghdad should make any American justifiably proud. No whooping or gung-hoism, just quiet pride in a job well done and honest humble admissions that the last few weeks had been 'pretty damned scary'.
The only sour note was the English 'human-shield' who was screaming 'Yankee scum, go home' at US troops - embarrassing.
Oh... and well done to the Aussies - as professional as ever.
And don't forget GROM - the Polish special forces, taken quite a few prisoners apparently and the source of much pride in Poland.
