Hi all,

the recent threads on Gazelles have really made me miss the buzz of flying them, it seems that quite a few people have a story or two about them and their time flying them, so please give me a fix and tell me your story (fact or fiction). Please submit stories not criticisms of the stories submitted purely in the interests of entertainment.
Thank you in advance.

Loose Nut.

more of a student story but it involves a Gazelle so what the heck...

Going through RAF Shawbury rotary training a while (!) ago, during the night flying phase. We were doing our night navex dual then solo, when solo we had to call ATC with our position, comnditions etc. I was airborne with my instructor and my mate was off solo. We heard him pipe up on the radio

"Gazelle 3*, overhead turning point 4 in driving rain"

(can't remember the real callsign)

my instructor burst out laughing and remarked:
"at 90 knots all rain is driving rain"

well it was funny at the time...

(p.s. sorry JJ!)
