This has been quite a week for Peel Holdings.

Wednesday - They announced that negotiations had been sucessfully concluded over Teesside Airport having previously been nominated as the preferred bidder

Thursday - Liverpool John Lennon was awarded £5m Objective One funding towards a £20m expansion scheme and then to crown it all....

Friday - Government gives Finningley the green light!
What a week!

So now suggestions please for a name for the ex RAF base befitting its new role

Well done to all at Peel Holdings.

Well after all this time I bet Peel are well chuffed. No matter what Manchester Group say though, I can't see it being good news for Humberside. Leeds and East Mids are likely to be alright, but it looks like NJ can kiss goodbye to the majority of its commercial and IT.:)

Is this the same peel holding that wanted to close Barton???

OK so Peel have permission to use it but that is not the same as making it a sucess-what they have is an RAF airfield that closed nearly ten years ago, and which does not yet have the facilities to make it a civil airfield of any note-thay takes time and money, investment that must be repaid and can anyone see the most likely users-the lo-co's, paying enough to make it worth while?
Freight wise the big players are already tied into big investments of their own at existing airports-it would have to be some deal to entice them away surely

Lesley Garrett International is the obvious name as Peel use singer names and our Lesley was born just down the road from the main gate! :)
