SAVANNAH, Ga., April 3, 2003 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has acquired BBA Aviation’s aircraft maintenance service business at London Luton Airport in the United Kingdom. The airport is located approximately 35 miles north of central London. BBA will retain and continue to operate its Signature Flight Support FBO (fixed-base operation) at this location. Terms of this agreement have not been disclosed.

The first Gulfstream-owned service center to be operated outside the United States, Gulfstream’s Luton service center will continue performing service and maintenance for Signature’s customer base, including Citation, Falcon and Hawker aircraft owners in Europe and the Middle East. The facility also will provide comprehensive service for all Gulfstream aircraft – the Gulfstream G550™, G500™, G400™, G300™, G200™ and G100™, as well as the Gulfstream V®, Gulfstream IV® / IV-SP®, Gulfstream III® and the Gulfstream II®.

U.K.-based Marshall Aerospace, a 35-year Gulfstream partner and Gulfstream-authorized warranty center, has discontinued maintenance and service on large corporate aircraft.

“ Marshall provided first-class service to our customers throughout the years,” said Bill Boisture, president, Gulfstream. “The Luton facility will ensure that Gulfstream aircraft owners and operators in the United Kingdom and surrounding region have access to a first-class service center that fully supports their aircraft.”

Gulfstream Luton will become the sixth Gulfstream service center. The other five centers are located in Long Beach, Calif.; Dallas; Appleton, Wis.; Savannah; and Brunswick, Ga. Gulfstream service centers perform regularly scheduled maintenance, inspections, interior refurbishment, repairs, STC (supplemental type certificate) installations and warranty repairs on Gulfstream business jets.

If Gulfstream are coming to Luton........Please GOD....Then perhaps it is time for FSI to place a G4/G5 or whatever they call them now, in Luton as well. Not popular with crews who for some reason like to go to Savannah....but the owners will love it.....stop off in UK do recurrent, boss does few days work, save loads of money....quick mtce checks....Metro will not be happy chappies......but there will be the GLF sims in Dubai soon, so perhaps Luton not a good thought...sorry, but it was a good idea when I first thought of it. Honest.

We just made a deal with CAE to do our recurrents in Dubai:
- 35% cost on average for initials/recurrents
business class flights on Emirates, 5-star hotel accomodation.
Full JAA training.

FSI has it's work cut out for them, even in LTN..

When will they be operational......I go to recurrent in USA in two weeks. Too late to change I suspect.
