I watched what appeared to be a Singapore Airlines B777 get a "rainbow shower" on Monday morning at MAN.
What was that all about then?

It was the inaugural non-stop outbound flight with B777-200ER equipment.

The "shower", as you probably already know, has become a tradition at Ringway for the first run of new routes and services.

Although personally I think it was stretching it a bit to treat Manchester - Singapore as a new service, it was a lovely day and the whole thing looked splendid.

It took a bit of pushing and pulling to get it into the right place for the photo opportunity and also in view of all the dignitaries looking on from the top of the Radisson.

Presumably, when a route is closed down, there will be a "Golden Shower"?

Qatar also had a water salute this morning with the help of a follow me car - presumably to get it picture perfect first time.
