The Wessex are supposed to be gone forever. Rumour control is rife regarding redeployment to NI to release more Pumas for `other` theatres.

Does the Wessex seen doing circuits at Strawberry today give weight to these rumours, or does someone here know differant.

Only nasty rumours I'm afraid. The Wessex are bound for a South American country.

There's at least three of them lugging logs around in New Zealand - and they're still in RAF "colours"

Found only these two on the NZ register.

Did time on both in the late 60's.

I think one other is being kept for spares. Another one crashed about a year or so ago - fatal unfortunately.

Saw the last one flying again today. Nice to see a decent ac flying. Shame about all the expensive black helos lying in storage. Hig you get a good view from the crewroom don't you.

Three Wessex are going to Uruguay, only three will be avail for sale through the MOD. Hendon are after a green one.

Correction, only four Wessex will be avail for sale

I have to admit that I'm struggling to think of another 'theatre' where you'd want to use the Puma, other than the postage stamp it currently operates in.
