Just wondering if there are any official requirements before one can enrol to do a ATPL distance learning course. I know a lot of schools require you to have at least a PPL and some even suggest a min number of hours. Is this a JAA req or is it just an individual school requirement? I'm coming near the end of my PPL but I'm not getting much flying done at the mo due to the fabulous weather we've been having. I'd really like to make a start on the next stage of my flying as soon as possible.

To enter JAA ATPL Theoretical Training it is a requirement that you have the following:-
1. An ICAO PPL
2. A good command of English (written and spoken)
3. A sufficient knowledge of mathmatics and physics.

Some scools will ask for various other things, such as 100hrs or a class1 medical but they are school requirements only.

Thanks gazelle. I'll just have to sit tight for the time-being.

Swot up on your PPL Theory books whilst your waiting..not in the same depth as ATPL notes, but will keep the grey matter turning over. Also sort your class one medical out. There may be a waiting list to get an appointment....so while the weather is crap.
