After a fairly painless move to Windows XP over the weekend, all appears to be well with the exception of an error message "WbLogon has failed to initialize 0xc0000142" on boot up. It doesn't seem to affect anything and a search on google and the Microsoft website knowledgebase has made me none the wiser. Does anybody know how to get rid of it?

Don't know nuffink about it (W98) but 'google' produces a Spanish link (which it claims to translate) which appears to show others have the problem!

Do a search of your files for WbLogon and see where and what it is.

Or maybe try this Board. I find it good.

Thanks TR4A, I did that and it appears to have been connected with a program called Smart Manager. When I ran the search engine the first time it came up with nothing but on reboot changed its mind. The offending program ( which I don't remember installing ) has now been removed. Thank again you guys for your help.
