Hi there everyone.
Just a quick question! Has anyone here ever heard of Orlando Flight Training. They do courses right upto ATPL standard for FAA/JAA requirements. I was wondering if they were any good or just another flying club trying to take your money. Also if i got an FAA/JAA PPL, then how much would it cost and how long would it take to convert it to CAA standards for the UK? Any help would be useful. They do have a website, I think it is http://www.orlandoflighttraining.com but I am not sure. A search engine like Yahoo will be able to find it for you. As before any help would be great,
Cheers and happy flying

If their the ones based at Kissimmee Orlando, Its part of the Cabair Modular coarse, its the hour building section, in the states, and not the best value groundschool at Cranfeild.

Modular means you can shop around and go where you like, I'd suggest you do that some more an see whats around. locking your self into one place is a bit of a bad move.

I went to OFT over a year ago and had a great time, it not perfect but its undergone a big shakeup so wouldn't want to comment on it is now. wouldn't class it as a 'Rippoff' establishment like others schools around.

Hi,

I have never been to that school personally but I have heard good things about them. They're the school that Cabair uses for there US segments of training. They apparently have a good mix of newish aircraft (Warrior's etc..). Another one that I have been recommended is http://www.britanniaflightcentre.com/

Hope this helps,

Simon

I got back from OFT about a month ago having completed IMC, Night and 50hrs. I have been meaning to compile a report on them but havn't had the time. I would recommend them altough they may be a little more expensive than others. Have heard good things about Naples also. E-mail me for more if you like.

If you don't mind me asking emu, how much did you pay for that? (Including flights, accomm, etc...

Mike

Mike,

Do you not think you really ought to show some initiative? All the hard work has been done for you already. Click on the links above and you'll find the prices for the various courses including accomodation. As for flights to US, they vary so much that finding out what somebody else paid is largely irrelevant.

Hey guys, I'M SITTING AT THIS COMPUTER-IN OFT!! I'm here doing my JAA PPL and having a great time. I have the same instructor all the time, he only has one other student. I had 2 days in which I did not fly, this was because I was ready to go solo, but it was too windy. Apart from that, the weather has been perfect. This is my 19th day and I'm ready to do my skills test. One thing to be aware of, if anyone is going to do a PPL, OFT do not do the R/T oral, but you can still do the skills test once you have sat all the other exams (R/T being in 2 parts). The sheraton hotel is preffered, it costs $35 through OFT, wheras $139 for Joe Bloggs. If anyone wants to know more, just email me.
Dave H, anything you wish to add!!

What is wrong with you Ham...I simply asked as I am thinking of going to the US to do a similar type course, and just wondered whether some of the prices I have seen are reasonable or not. It has nothing to do with my initiative, as it was a simple informal enquiry...If you have a problem, keep it to yourself, and if emu wants to tell me, he can. If not, it's his own choice.

Je reste mon valise, m'lord (with apolgies to my French teacher who must be turning in her grave):

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2">Mike,
over the last few days you've posted an awful lot of questions, most of which are at a very basic level. Now, I've no problem with a complete beginner asking questions - that's what we're here for - but this isn't the Mike Samuel personal bulletin board! Please collate your questions into fewer posts, and also go and get some info from the CAA. Contrary to some of the posts on this board, they are pretty helpful! You'll at least learn what some of the terminology means. You've a long way to go, and you won't get absolutely all the answers you need here (however much we'd like to think otherwise!).

I WOULD HAVE NO HESITATION IN SUGGESTING 'PANAM INT FLIGHT ACADEMY' AT FT PIERCE,FLORIDA. THE JAA INSTRUCTORS ARE MAINLY ENGLISH, VERY PROFESSIONAL, GIVE GOOD BRIEFS AND OVERALL FRIENDLY. THE PLANES ARE WARRIORS/ARCHERS. FLYING 5/6 DAYS A WEEK. A VERY GOOD PLACE TO COME BEFORE THE DREADED GROUND SCHOOL.
REGARDS,
PAUL.S
