I moved to the Canadian Arctic after living in Papua New Guinea and other islands of the South Pacific for the past 4 years. I would be interested if there were people on this forum who lived and worked in the South Pacific not only PNG but other islands like the Solomons, Vanuatu, Fiji, Micronesia etc.

I would be interested what your experiences were, who did you fly for, have been back since you left or if you are still there how is life in Paradise.

What do you call a guy who exchanges +30 for –40????

At the recent go-pinis for a colleague, the customary farewell card was presented and someone had written...

"We don't blame you for leaving but, after you're gone, we'll blame you for everything else"

Given that you've exchanged a +30 for a -40, the last thing you'll be worried about is getting blamed for everything back in "+30" country! ;)

You don't SERIOUSLY want to know what you're missing out on here, do you? :D

Hi OzExpat,

Are you still in the land of the unexpected? What is up with the elections there? Any riots in the highlands?

As a matter of fact I wouldn’t mind some news from PNG. I quite enjoyed my time there except the town living and the Rascals in the neighborhood and the prostitutes down the street, which I have to say we can owe our safety since they knew about everything that was going on, yeah so I really miss the warm weather.

I have seen snow every single month of the year up here and when there is –37 out there with a wind-chill factor of -56 I bang my head against the snow bank for leaving PNG.

So let me tell you pissing against the wind here is just impossible, call that adventurous???
