Does anybody know more about this Swazi Airline that is awaiting
delivery of two L 1011 Tristars. Article in Aviation Maintenance says that Tristar Capital are contracted to supply the two birds. Hamilton Aerospace Technologies do the removal from storage maintenance, interior modifications, a routine inspection and and new paint. Tristar Capital will lease the two L 1011's on a maintenance cost per hour basis to Northeast Airlines.

I saw one of them in Durban, last week, it was doing a Hajj charter and routed Jeddah-Mombassa-Durban. It was flying under the callsign NEY9211 reg was 3D-NEC. I don't know anything about the second one.

Check out this thread from Rumours and News about the same thing, sounds like it could be a dodgy bunch to work for.

*WARNING*NorthEast - Tristar shysters (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82515)

I saw TriStar 3D-NEC at FACT (Cape Town International) Last weekend. When it took off it only rotated 3 quarters down the runway, so it went somewhere far away. I wonder where it is based?

I would like to find out more about this outfit NORTH EAST AIRLINES (Pty) LTD. It seems as though it is using the Swazi Civil Aircraft Regsiter for convenience.

When I saw 3D-NEC it was in the same colours it operated in as N310SS, but without the previous owner's name and logo (Tradewinds Airlines)

Modified only to the extent of correcting a double posting 4HP

I have now ascertained that NORTHEAST AIRLINES (Pty) Ltd will eventually have three TriStars:

3D-NEC
3D-NEG
3D-NEL

I am as yet not sure where they will be based, and what their main activity will be.

So far two have been used on hadjj flights between South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

It seems as though the Swazi register is one of convenience. One wonders what the benefits there are to be had registering aircraft in Swaziland. At one stage Equatorial Guinea was a favourite.
