Hi All

Finally ASL and CASA got it right... Here is a note from ASL

CASA’s re-training policy pertaining to three consecutive failures in a particular exam grouping
is to be changed 03 March, 2003. From this date, if a candidate fails any exams in the series
they will only be excluded from re-sitting that particular subject prior to the re-training period.
This means that if a candidate fails three or more exams in a row there will not be a re-training
period imposed on any subjects that have not yet been attempted. As a result of the new
policy, candidates will be able to book all seven CPL or ATPL exams at once without the risk of
being unable to sit the later exams in the event of three consecutive failures. The duration of the re-training period is dependant upon the mark attained, being longer for failing by a large amount than for someone who just fails.

Full details of the re-training policy can be viewed on
CASA’s website selecting the following link:
http://www.casa.gov.au/avreg/fcl_lic/fcl_exam/revised.htm Candidates who are still undergoing re-training due to unsuccessful attempts prior to 03 March 2003 may enjoy a
favourable effect retrospectively, but no one will be required to undertake a re-training period that is more than the policy effective at the time of the failure.

Thus, some of these candidates
may be able to sit earlier than previously informed, and will be able to re-book examinations from 01 March for delivery on or after 03 March 2003.
