From the Qatar Peninsula(25/2):

"Egyptian security authorities at Cairo International Airport yesterday ordered an Egyptian passenger, who was smoking on board the plane, to leave the Qatar Airways aircraft immediately as per a request from the pilot.

The passenger, who was reported to have been smoking on board the plane a few minutes before it took off, was asked by the stewardess to stop smoking but he refused.

The pilot, however, wrote an official charge against the passenger and handed it over to the director of passenger safety department, Major General Ahmed Adel Khattab, who took immediate action against the passenger and ordered him to leave the plane.

The Qatar Airways flight QR 515 was delayed for nearly 30 minutes due to the incident.

It took off after offloading the Egyptian passenger.

Qatar Airways has strictly banned smoking on board its planes and all passengers have been notified."
