I have a son who is 21 who wants to be a pilot in the RAF. He has the GCSE O and A requirments and a PPL. He has his interviews coming up.
1. What is he likely to be asked?
2. Any good pointers as to what answers the selection board
will be looking for?

Thanking you in anticipation for your responses

TRY the following website:

www.airmanaircrew.freeserve.co.uk

Select selection process under Admin for a brief on OASC procedures. Sound advice on procedures. Mental arithmatic is the key, time/distance calculations should be second nature when he's there. In the individual problem and group plan work out every option. If you have all the options worked out you will have them by the b**ll***ks.

Only bit of advice for your boy, pilot only, nothing else pilot only. The RAF are not interested in your son they want to fill flying slots. At the end of the part 2 they will ask him if he would consider any other branch in the RAF

'No, I have applied to join the RAF as a pilot, no other branch appeals to me'

Or words to that effect, if he evens hints that the new WSOp branch looks interesting then expect an offer for WSOp a few weeks after OASC. Everyone wants to be pilot, so be determined to be one and don't even consider anything else.

If he just wants to fly then role the dice and expect a seat without a view.

Good luck.
