I have been offered a Toshiba Satellite S2800-100 lap top for a reasonable price.
Has anyone any good/bad experience of this model and advice.
I would appreciate any 'heads up' beofer committing myself.

Think about this: no warrenty left - where would you get it fixed if it were to go wrong? - no come back with the seller?

Depends on how "reasonable" the price is, really.

You should have the seller demonstrate that the machine is running stable without errors.

Much more important ist that you are given the original disk of the OS installed - believe me, you'll need it, sooner or later.

Toshiba restore disks are a must. Toshiba use quite a few Toshiba specific drivers/utilities.

The down side is that Toshiba have the b@stard habit of making restore disks that will ONLY delete the whole disk before restoring ie they will not allow you to restore to a customised partition scheme.

B@stards!!!

thanks all.... the machine is about 7 months old and still under warranty. It has only ever been used to play DVDs and is loaded with ME in French. €850 is the asking price and all original discs supplied will come with it. I have yet however to see them to see what they are but will ask for them today.

When you have access to the disks make sure you check them in the machine to which they belong!

Toshiba also have the nasty habit of making their disks' functions keyed to the BIOS of a machine.

Wrong BIOS = the disk won't work.
