Has anyone else picked up on the approval by the local council for the BAA to erect an arch over the approach road (not path) to Gatwick - McDonands style arch - costing £750,000 !!

In such times as we are facing at the moment with the travel industry if the BAA have £750k to throw at a project like this could they not re-invest it in the industry by assisting airlines that are hammered by landing and parking fee's ??

Are you sure! There is an ongoing project to construct one over a Taxiway from North Terminal to West Park stands - but, that was delayed by the 11th September terrorist attacks but, I believe will restart fairly soon.

Can confirm, BOTH projects now have the go-ahead, as well as the new £8m fire training ground project that was suspended last year when the contactors went bust (twice!).

Not to mention the cost of building a second layer to pier 2 thanks to Department of Transport (or whatever they are calling themselves this week).
