Can Somebody tell me why the minima joining age to SIA is 26yrs for Singaporeans and PRs? I hear that there are pilots who join when they are 20.

Is this true or false. What options are there if you want to join younger.

Cheers

Hi Aeronort,

First of all, the age constraint applies only to ab-initio condidates - not all pilots.

The 'not below 26 years' age limit was put in place for Singaporeans and PRs so that those wishing to fly, should apply to fly for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) first. Therefor, the age for Singaporeans and PRs (other than those from the RSAF) will be from 26 to 32.

This rule does not apply to non-Singaporeans and non-PRs. The cutoff age to join the ab-initio programme for latter group is 26.

Hope that helps.
