A new BMed route from LHR-Tashkent (Uzbekistan) will commence on 30th March three times a week as an onward flight from Yerevan.

Also, Beirut flights up to 11 per week this summer (from Daily) with the introduction of five night flights.

Other changes are that Yerevan services are to become non-stop and flights to Tbilisi are to become terminating resulting in extra passenger capacity.

I imagine this is all tied in with the delivery of 2 new A320-200s (G-MEDH and G-MEDJ) this month and next month respectively.

Nice to see some expansion, especially in the Middle East market which must be pretty hard hit right now. BMed must be doing something right.

Good luck to them. Their routes to the Middle East esp. Tehran could be hit hard with a Iraq scrap, so any growth in the former CIS area is bound to be good news. However the Baku route is heavily dependant on the oil industry and Bishkek is dependant on gold mining industry. Hopefully any war will not cause too much of a shockwave within BMed.

Was rather surprised yesterday to see in their latest press release that they are also increasing Tehran frequencies to 5 flights a week (from 4) in the Summer schedule.

I thought this would be the last route to see any extra flights given the current climate. They say the increase is part of a long term plan to introduce a daily LHR-Tehran British Airways flight.
