Whats happening in here?

A couple of days ago I posted a few points about the Powell evidence on this forum under the title "American Intelligence"!

I have since been bombarded by someone in Houston trying to get through my firewall! Now that could just be coincidental.

But the post has dissapeared from this forum all together....even when I check my profile, there is no eveidence of it ever being there!

Something strange happening.....I wonder how long this post will last?

You can make some assumptions about that. Given that it must of been a Pprune moderator that deleted your message. And that only a pprune moderator could find out your IP number it was probably in fact 'a moderator'

If your on cable ring your ISP explain the problem and get them to allocate a new IP number. If your on dialup and its still occuring they in all probablity have a trojan on your PC.

I do think that if it was removed by a moderator, then they should at least have the courtesy to inform me!

The thread was moved to Admin because it drew some very tasteless and unecessary posts from people who should know better.

The Mil forum has almost always been allowed to police itself, and it usually works. However, when this fails I am afraid it is the sin bin.

A few weeks ago, I had a thread removed from the Private Flying forum by 'A Moderator' on the grounds that 'the Military' were not happy with it! Believe me, Pprune is not an anonymous forum.....

mutleyfour - we don't inform people when we move a thread. To inform all posters on a thread would take too much time.

Be aware that PPRuNe isn't run by full-time webguys - it's run by experienced professionals in various fields of the aviation industry, with the technical assistance of a senior geek (me) from a major computer company. All of these people willingly give up their spare time to run PPRune.

PPRuNe Pop explanation as to why the thread has disappeared is correct.

As for your IP address being bombarded - PPRuNe will not and does not release any private information about posters, IP addresses etc. unless we are legally compelled to. Any attempts to penetrate your firewall have nothing to do with PPRuNe. My own computer network is attacked about 30 times each hour and the PPRuNe server is under constant attack. That's just the way the internet is nowadays

Without knowing what the offending posts contained I guess we have to take it as read that it was something awful. However, may I suggest that such posts might be better handled by either editing or deletion leaving the thread intact. Alternatively, leave the post to be subjected to ridicule by those who were taught how mighty the pen can be.

Any chance we could have the original thread back, minus the offending post re Adolf etc?

Ah, so the offending post was something to do with our old friend Adolf. Can anyone enlighten me further just so I know how bad it has to be in order to destroy a thread.

The original thread has been restored, minus the offending posts.

soddim the whole point of deleting a post, or a thread, is that the offending verbage is removed from sight and ceases to offend. It follows that revealing the contents of the offending message would offend equally, so it ain't gonna happen

I support the Mod's actions in this event. I read the thread and did find one of the posts to be unworthy of this forum and the people that participate in it. The removal of the entire thread ended the problem. Hats Off! Thank you Mod for that action.
