Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone could shed some light on Pit Crew with VB.

I have seen the recruitment happening on their website.

Whats the job like?

What are the general shift work times?

Are the wages any good - what gross?

Is there a step process for years of service?

I found this info on the net regarding wages - is it still current?

Virgin Classification Broadband Week
Wage Rates

Trainee Ground Crew $480
(are trained in pit crew, check-in/boarding
duties) 6 Months
Ground Crew $540
(undertake pit crew or check-in/boarding
duties on any rostered day)
Ground Crew) $565
(21C team leader or Ground Crew 2, both
undertaking combined duties of pit crew
and check-in/boarding crew on any
rostered day)
Team Leader (undertakes all duties on any $590
rostered day and leads the work team)
Crew Leader $680

I look forward to any helpful response on my questions.

Cheers

Cessnaboy

If this is the wrong forum for Ground Crew questions, could someone please point me in the right direction.

yeah buddy the website is pretty accurate, also try aerocare at www.aerocare.com.au, they do virgin's ground handling at their regional ports, perth, darwin, cairns, marroochy, townsville and canberra.

you must be fit, virgin are on 30 min turnarounds so you will be busting your arse off during the turn though is pretty cruisy in between flights, busier at the main vb ports, adelaide, melbourne, sydney and brisbane, these are the only location where virgin does their own ground handling, all the other ports are contracted out.

Shifts can be any time of the day, usually split into days or nights. You have to be able to work at a good speed and have a bit of commonsense and most importantly be a team man, that's what gets aeroplanes out on time!!!

Thanks for the info topend3.

The wages info was from the year 2000 so I was wondering if it has increased or not.

Do you enjoy the job?

Cheers,

CB;)
