Singapore Air Leases Two Boeing Planes to Air Pacific

Singapore, Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore Airlines Ltd.,
Asia's most profitable airline, will lease two Boeing Co. 747-400
planes to Air Pacific Ltd.
The planes will be leased for five years, with options to
extend the agreement by as much as two years. The planes will be delivered in April and July, Singapore Air said in a statement.
The two planes were originally leased to Australia's Ansett
Holdings Ltd., which collapsed in 2001 after running out of cash.
Singapore Air has previously said it was looking for new owners or
lessees for the planes, analysts said.
"This is good news as it means extra income for Singapore
Air,'' said Peggy Mak, an analyst at UOB-Kay Hian Research.
Air Pacific is a Fiji-based carrier, which is partly owned by
Qantas Airways Ltd., according to Air Pacific's Web site.
