Good on you, yellow....I too have received the long-awaited email telling me I am on the shortlist.....my assessment was in Sydney - but I have heard of a few Perth ppl who are thru also.....

Best of luck to all the Melb ppl who are still waiting!

Here's hoping for that phonecall very soon.

Can any current QF crew advise as to any time frames please??!!

Would be greatly appreciated!

Just received an SMS from an ex AN F/A friend of mine who resides in BNE and was interviewed in SYD. She has been advised of a six month shortlisting also.

I believe this six month deadline was something the FAAA (Domestic) put to QF management with the view that it was an 'unusual and cruel torture' to keep people on the end of a string indefinitely.

You be the judge!

Hi everyone,

Big congats to all who have made it through to the shortlist. What an achievement and have heard that the numbers are greatly reduced due to the pending war.

Sadly I got my no sorry email on Tuesday and was not told anything as to why except in the email they did say that they had very high calibre of people ( real great for the old confidence not!!!) Cannot believe that they let you go through the medical etc to tell you this as thought we would all go on a shortlist but as usual my logic was not logical!

Anyway #@##!!! happens and if anyone heard a no then I know how you feel but would appreciate lots of hugs and poor you messages if you can stop celebrating for just a few minutes!!! haha !!( said in cynical tone of voice)

Anyway thanks for all the support through the entire process and wish I could say that infamous line of see you in the Qantas corridors but maybe we can meet down the local pub instead!!!

Good luck to other states and keep in touch in private messages to tell me all the news,

Lotsa love
Chellybee

Dear Chellybee and others,

I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't accepted by the big Q. It is so disheartening when you get so far and then get knocked back. These days though I'm afraid it seems to be that even though you get as far as the medical you are still not guaranteed a job. It is a very expensive and time consuming exercise not to mention the anxious waiting for THAT call or email.
So to all those out there who've just got a no, just hang in there and remember that everything happens for a reason. Perhaps its not your turn this time but who knows what may happen in 6 months.
Good Luck and well done for getting so far.

Sorry it's a bit late (I've been incommunicado for a few days)....

:D Congrats to all West Ozlanders and shortly East Ozlanders who have made it to the QF short-list. I'm sure you will get snapped up by QF shortly. If they have cut good candidates like Chellybee, they must have a clear number on recruits in mind. I doubt they will have too many overs on the short list (just enough to cover the occasional no-show).

:( :( :( Sadly, I received the dreaded "Thanks but no thanks" email. I'm not feeling too badly about the decision, life goes on. But I'm just a bit peeved about how bloomin long it took QF to notify the unlucky candidates. By my figures it was 7 weeks .... 7 weeks of climax. Thankfully for some it paid off, but wow what an anti-climax for others including myself. I realise the sheer logistics involved in such an exercise as national airline recruitment, but honestly!!

But back to congratulating the shortlisters.....at least I know they have picked the cream of the crop! :D :D

What, you don't even get a letter in the post? Just an email? It is getting a bit insensitive, how things have changed.

Mind you I don't know whats worse, I have received many of the "thin" envelopes in the post and once you see that, you know instantly it's a no. I don't know why I bothered to open them.

Sorry to hear the news and good luck to all in the future.

I'd have to say that I prefer the new process than the old one, which I found to be totally humiliating.

No more of the "would you follow me please" and find yourself at the back door with a "thanks for coming" letter, or standing with a group of others, some whose names are called out, others who aren't.

I found staffcv.com and the new assessment method far more humaine. I always had an email from ccrecruitment within 48 hours of my participation at each stage.

Hopefully the bad old days of the "Popstars" styled recruitment are gone. The only way was up really.

Hi Guys
A friend just sent me a copy of a question posted in th QF Cabin Crew website by an f/a in Mel. Lets hope for everyone's sake on the waitlist that this war doesnt eventuate as the response from HR does not look encouraging.

Answered: 10 February 2003
Question: This is the third time i have asked this question so i hope that it could be answered this time! I just want to ask will Sydney recruit more flight attendants in the next few months?Approximately how many? I am on the transfer list to go back to Sydney but it seems as though its not moving at all..
Thanks

Answer: At the moment there are no plans to recruit any flight attendants into the Long Haul division. Depending on the situation in the Gulf, there may be no additional recruitment into the Long Haul division for some time. Transfer lists will not be actioned unless operational requirements dictate the need for the movement of crew between bases.

Lozza,
as that information you posted was lifted from the "confidential" QF cabin crew site it might be an idea just to remove the direct telephone number and name of the recruitment officer who answered that question. I know you haven't meant any harm in posting that info but it could cause alot of problems for the lady involved having her telephone number posted on a public bulletin board. :O

Thanks cabinboy, that was a good idea

Cabinboy

You are right and I apoligise if this has caused any undue stress to persons involved. This information was emailed to me tonight and so I just cut and pasted it without thinking. I know there are many ppl who would be interested to get any info available.
Once again my apologies if I have upset anyone.

Lozza2002

No prob with us, sure you didn' think about it and then promptly deleted. ;)

Thanks Lozza!

I am wondering if they mean no additional recruitment AFTER we current short listers are placed, or indeed NO recruitment AT ALL from the present time into the forseeable future??

There are many anxious ppl out there on hold and if someone out there has ANY helpful info regarding this, ANY information would be greatly appreciated!!

Hope to hear from someone "in the know" soon!

No idea what's happening. the only thing I can do is wait, even though my 6months letter will expire in 7weeks...........

So I guess the shortlist has been filled up again and the rumours about the Iraq impact are true?

I'm already flying so I'll just get on with my life, and if I hear from QF, I hear from them, if not, then not.
