Has anyone heard about a new school in Bournemouth? There is a rumour that it's run by ex-PPSC instructors. A very good friend of mine says they have advertised courses for January! Any takers?

To quote one of my (ex)-PPSC instructors:

"We will have to wait and see, but I am cautiously optimistic!"

Cheers

EGHH would appear to be the place at the moment. Rumour at 34'amsl would suggest not only do we have a new groundschool in the making but also that a well known man who parted the water many moons ago is starting a up a flying school all though this will initially PPLs. Another organisation looking to provide some competition with PAT will be ETA currently seeking approval from the BELGRANO.

Polar,

My guess would be David Webb as one of them, having looked at his profile in one of his recent posts.
David Webb Profile:
Occupation: co-owner/director-aviation groundschool company

And I thought that guy had other plans.

Hmmm. I see.

I recall him intimating something a while back whilst the PPSC thing was comming out.

Wonder if he's about to spill the beans?

Yes indeed, once again the network seems to have found out what is going on in the training world!

I am not involved as I am signed on at my local job centre in North Yorkshire and am looking for a job as a local funeral director.

I understand that Roger Henshaw will head up the new school, with Dave Webb and Pete Swatton. all ex PPSC.

Whatever they do, whatever licence is taught, you can guarantee that it will be to the vey highest standard.

They will need support, which means lots of students, so it is up to you all, if you want a school other than Cabair and Oxford, that has past proof of results! This will be the only place.

J.S. Met will not be a part, so anyone needing me for Met Instruction, note I am and it seems will always be available at home in North Yorkshire.

ex Met Instructor PPSC & SECOAT.

Do we really need a new school ?

Was not a shortage of students a major factor in the failure of SFT and PPSC.

With more failures on the horizon, until capacity adjusts to demand. Is this really a good idea. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">

I have also heard these rumours, although they have not come from my usual "relible" source.. ... if my source doesn't know then dont pin ya hopes up.

As far as I am aware 4 different companys wanted the Ground school, although it would involve taking on a Very "hefty" loan that sft took out to build it.. so however has bought it will have only bought just the ground school... no one is stupid enough to take on the flying school too, i have seen the loan involved on that one and its not pretty!!!! I also have a fair idea of who it might be.. although I cannot tell.

and..... yes Bournemouth needs another school on the ground, deffinatly!!. someone was going to build one anyway as there was a slot on the field, but now it may be taken...... I can only hope!

Well, to all those named, good luck with it. I've been a student of all of you within the last 12 months, and I'm pleased to say have given me 100% pass rate. Credit to you not me (old National system).

One small point I must add. I know Mr Metsys is a tad unconventional, but the students love him and he does get them through it. On my course, there where a couple of people who went to PPSC because of his reputation. Worth bearing in mind.

If this new lot is up and running in Jan, I may take a look round as I'm down that way then.

Good luck.

David..... I never said anyone had Bought SFT, in fact I told everyone on a prevoius post that no-one will buy it out, and that the school will be auctioned of bit by bit.

lanky,

If SFT did not go under due to a lack of students tell me why it does not exist any more. From reading a previous thread SFTRIP a contributor known as Twinkletoes seemed to suggest it was something to do with a witch perhaps he/she might have been try to make some sort of cryptic remark that I presume would only be appreciated by students or the employees at SFT????
Anyway from what people tell me SFT was an excellent FTO and it is a huge shame it no longer exists.
