I noticed this article in yesterday's NYTimes:

When in doubt, blame Clausewitz's "fog of war"!

"Why should these men be the first Air Force pilots to face homicide charges for an accidental attack in wartime?"

Accidental attack??? What does this do? MASTER ARM? Oops sorreeeee!

This was a deliberate attack, but wrongly identified target. It was a mistake. Negligent or not is a different matter. Seems to be happening more and more or is it just more reporters and better comms. Agree with the point that this sort of incident more likely to be deadly with PGM's than liberal sprinkling of standard Mk82s.

this topic is already being discussed elsewhere on Military Aircrew -

Schmidt/Umbach Guilty or Innocent?

Might I suggest this topic is merged with that one?
