View Full Version : Any reliefs for holders of an ATPL-A who want to obtain an ATPL-H ?

Hi !

Though, not being a professional rotary pilot I'd like
to know whether there are any reliefs for people
that hold already an f/w ATPL but want additionally
obtain an ATPL-H. I do know that there are certain
requirements regarding the necessary hours (i.e. 250 h cpl)
- I've already found some information regarding crediting
f/w hours. For example I guess that IFR exams and the like
could probably be dropped since you know that stuff from heart
due to your f/w ATPL.
Mainly, I'm interested in the details
concerning theory/exams and stuff that differs from the f/w
ATPL. Maybe also some comments
regarding the financial reliefs would be useful.
Also, I've already searched the forum,
unfortunately I couldn't get too many answers on
my questions. Thanks for all comments and tipps.
And if that topic has already been covered previously
please just tell me where I can find it and I will be more
than grateful.

So far

happy landings !

Hi AGL,

Just gone through this myself so here's what happened to me.

PPL reduced to 39 Hours, two groundschool exams.

CPL given a dispensation of 50 hrs i.e. started CPL course with 105 hrs total Heli. Only one groundschool exam (principles of flight) which made life alot easier! Check with Cash And Aggro about the ground school though, it is supposed to be changing soon with the implementation of bridging exams. E-mail ([email protected]) is the person to contact.

Good luck, you'll never look back!

E-mail me if anything is unclear.

Yep, meanwhile I've read a couple of texts about accreditation,
requirements etc.

Right, that's exactly what I was looking for - less
groundschool/exams :-)
Also, I've checked out some other postings here in the
rotorheads forum and I did find yours as well -
in particular I found these postings pretty informative:

- As I couldn't find that much detailed information I have
also contacted about half a dozen of helicopter
flight school with my inquiries - from what I've read
by now it sounds pretty straight forward and easier
than I would have figured in the beginning because of the
amount of replies so far...
But there are indeed a couple of posting regarding
f/w <-> r/w conversion on pprune - may be a
FAQ on that matter would be nice ? =)

Just a theoretical question: IF the IFR-rating/addon from the
ATPL-A does also count for the ATPL-H - is it possible
to stay IFR-current by merely flying r/w ?
(it's really just theoretical)

E-mail me if anything is unclear.

Okay, thanks !

And if anybody still has anything to contribute - I would
appreciate any tips and info !
